Hello TPUCS Fam,
How are you? After the trying year and a half we’ve all had, we truly hope this finds you well. As you all know, the holiday season is prime time for The Pop-Up Care Shop — from clothing donations to setting up boutiques at the various shelters, we always try to bring some cheer to those in need.
However, while outside gradually opens back up, the COVID-19 pandemic is still a reality for us, and the safety of our volunteers and the occupants of the shelters we serve is priority. The decision not to do a Pop-Up Care Shop for the second year in a row was a hard one to make. Over the summer we did outreach to numerous shelters and realized the pandemic posed too much of a risk to all involved.
So this year we are reinventing how we give back. On Friday, December 3rd from 6- 9 PM ET, we are hosting Operation Care Package at New Women Space in Brooklyn.
We want you to join us for an evening of making holiday Care packages for women in need. Attendees are invited to bring donated items (new unused toiletries, new or clean gently worn winter accessories, face masks, feminine hygiene products, books, etc.). Please note: we are NOT collecting clothing donations this year, as the Care Packages can only fit toiletries and winter accessories (like hats, gloves, and scarves).
Care packages will serve the women of New Destiny Housing, a housing development for homeless and low-income domestic violence survivors. During the event, you will have the opportunity to mingle, snack on holiday goodies, support the New Women Space cash bar if you need an after work pick-me up, and jump start the holiday season with giving back.
